Welcome to JK Performance Horses, also known as JK Cutting Horses. These horses are so versatile that whatever endeavor you pursue, be it cutting, reining, reined cowhorse, roping, ranching, or barrel racing, you can find something here. So don't let the name fool you, we're not just cutting any more!
I have lots of exciting news to share with you. May I please introduce my two red roan fillies! First to arrive on March 8, 2008 is a stunning, very, very white, red roan whom I call "Winnie." She is out of MILLENNIUM FLO, a daughter of MR PEPONITA FLO, and is sired by NITRO DUAL DOC (by PEPTOBOONSMAL). The get of NITRO DUAL DOC are starting to make names for themselves in the cutting pen. DUAL WITH CHRISTY, ridden by Adan Banuelos, so far in 2008 has been the NCHA Super Stakes Limited Non-Pro Champion, the Augusta 4-year-old Non-Pro Reserve Champion and was a 4-year-old Non-Pro finalist at the 2008 Abiliene Spectacular. I could go on and on about "Winnie." She has a cute, baby doll head; gushes with personality; is already showing extreme athleticism with her darting moves about the fields; and is quite curious about everything in her world. One day I saw her stay "hooked" on a pheasant for several minutes following it all around her pasture. This head-turning filly is eligible for the AQHA Incentive Fund, NRCHA Stakes, NCHA Super Stakes, PCCHA Stakes, NRBC, Breeders Invitational, and Super Stallions Incentive Fund. Then on May 4, 2008 my second red roan filly was born out of STYLISH BOONERANG, a daughter of PEPTOS STYLISH OAK, This filly is sired by SMART SHINER, considered by many to be the best bred son of SHINING SPARK. SMART SHINER is the sire of the 2007 NRHA Futurity Open Finalist, SMART SHINER LENA, as well as siring SHINY BLACK SHINER, a finalist for the 2008 NRCHA Open Derby. I call this filly "Nickers" or sometimes "Nicky." She is little Miss Independence. She is very bold and doesn't have a clue that she is presently half the size of her older "cousin" in the barn. She will be a darker roan than "Winnie." Her base color is a dark, rich liver chestnut with dark points. She also sports multiple irregularly shaped, concentrated patches of her darker base coat, almost like spots. She is a beautiful, graceful mover, has a great top line with an elegant neck. She has been a quick learner with an outgoing personality. She is for sale and with her breeding she should excel as a reined cowhorse, reiner or cutter. She is eligible for the AQHA Incentive Fund, NRBC, NRCHA Stakes, and Canadian Reining Breeders Classic. And as if this announcement of these two wonderful fillies wasn't enough, I have even more exciting news. As I write, I have all three of my half-sisters out of my old DRY DOC mare in foal for 2009. Some time ago I began to see the ads for the absolutely stunning palomino BIG CHEX TO CASH, the 2005 NRHA Open Futurity Reserve Champion and the 2007 NRHA Open Derby Reserve Champion with lifetime earnings of over $206,000. I really tried to avoid him as at the time I felt I needed to breed strictly to cutting stallions. However, it appeared as if he was my destiny. It seemed like it was always his page in a magazine that I would randomly turn to over and over again. Then one evening as I was flipping through TV channels I stopped on RFD-TV which was showing a replay of the highlights of the 2005 National Reining Horse Futurity. No sooner had I settled on this station then there he was again, BIG CHEX TO CASH, with his run that earned him the Open Reserve Championship. I was smitten and head-over-heels in love. I felt like some teenager in awe of the newest teen heartthrob. I went back to the ads, did my research and noticed he was owned by the "23 Partnership." Well that did it. The number "23" is very significant to me for several reasons which I will not go into here but I knew then and there that it was just meant to be that I needed to breed to BIG CHEX TO CASH. I felt crossing him with some of my "cutting" mares could give me some outstanding prospects for reined cowhorse or strictly reining and even cutting. BIG CHEX TO CASH has a lot of cow in his pedigree including the likes of MR GUNSMOKE, NU CASH, COLONEL FRECKLES and DOC O'LENA.

Paired with PLAYBOYS LUCKY DOLLY I am anticipating an awesome foal ability-wise and chrome-wise from BIG CHEX TO CASH. Dolly exhibits several sabino traits including a high white stocking, a lacy blaze and a white spot on her under lip so I am hoping there are a lot of fancy details coming with this late January 2009 foal. STYLISH BOONERANG is also in foal to BIG CHEX TO CASH for the latter part of April 2009, and that also should be one helluva prospect and should be a winner in any of the performance arenas. If you are interested in either of these upcoming foals, please contact me as they should be hot ticket items, however one may be staying in my barn as one could definitely be the foal of a lifetime for me!

I am offering for sale at this time MILLENNIUM FLO, a 2000 mare by MR PEPONITA FLO, who also has NCHA Futurity Champion DRY DOC as a grandsire. This mare in the early stages of cutting training was tremendously cowy with an ear-pinning attitude when working a cow. Unfortunately, a severe wire cut injury to the hock made it impossible to continue her training. "Milly" would make a great addition to anyone's breeding program. She is the kind of broodmare everyone wants: An easy breeder and a great, caring mom who is easy to work around once the foal is born. She has been bred to MATT DILLON DUN IT for March 2009. I have been extremely impressed with what Todd Crawford has done with this talented palomino stud with earnings in NRCHA, NRHA and also NCHA events with accomplishments such as the 2004 NRHA Derby USEF Open Reining Champion and multiple NRCHA reserve championships. He does not have a lot of foals on the ground as of yet because of his extended showing schedule, but I think it is only a matter of time until he proves himself as a sire. I think this foal out of MILLENNIUM FLO can be a real contender. This foal will be eligible for the AQHA Incentive Fund, the NRCHA Reined Cowhorse Stakes, National Reining Breeders Classic and NRHA USEF programs. As a 2-in-1 package (foal of 2009) "Milly" has a price of $18,000. Her 2008 foal by NITRO DUAL DOC is priced separately.

I have written in the past about my fascination with the rare champagnes and my desire to make them a part of my breeding program. I have two champagne mares "waiting in the wings" to become broodmares. JK GOLD AS IT GETS has been tested by the genetics lab at UC Davis and she is in fact homozygous for the champagne gene (document available for view on her individual foal page) so all of her babies are expected to be champagnes. In addition to her impressive dark gold color, her pedigree contains such performance stars as TOPSAIL CODY and PEPPY SAN BADGER. JK GOLD AS IT GETS will be available for embryo transfers in 2009 so if you would be interested in having your own champagne by a stallion of your choosing (upon my approval), please contact me so we can talk. My other champagne mare is JK CHAMPAGNE BUBBLES who is "Little Peppy" top and bottom and a granddaughter of BADGER STARLIGHT, full brother to GRAYS STARLIGHT. She should make an outstanding broodmare who hopefully will be generous when passing out the champagne color gene to her foals. JK CHAMPAGNE BUBBLES is available as a lease for breeding purposes or embryo transfer with a 50% chance of getting a champagne.

And as for some updates on previous foals that I have bred, DOSAMINA FRECKLES by DOS PALOMINO and out my mare PLAYBOYS LUCKY DOLLY is still on track to go to the NCHA Futurity in Fort Worth in 2008. I'm so excited for her owner, Claire Lindus. She is in training with Russell Harrison in Mineral Wells, Texas and will be shown in the amateur division by Claire. Keep up the good work, Claire! I'm also quite excited that PEPTOS LUCKY PLAYBOY, my PEPTOZONE colt out of PLAYBOYS LUCKY DOLLY, was the 2nd highest selling yearling at the 2007 National Stock Horse Association's Invitational Sale. I have just received word from his new owners, Bobette and Wayne, that "Cowboy," as they call him, has been in cutting training with Rex Rossoll since January 2008. He has a huge stop on him and is very cowy. Watch for this gorgeous colt to enter the show ring in 2009. CATAWAMPUS STARLIGHT (COUGARAND x CLOUDY GO LIGHTLY) has settled in with Keri'Ann Ackerman in Nevada who also bought DUALIN GREAT (DUALIN GUN x ROSALYNN BLU) from me. Keri'Ann on DUALIN GREAT (Sooner) was the winner of the Junior Horse Barrel Race and Vaquero Memorial Award at the 2008 Sharon Camarillo Western Classic held in Reno in July 2008. Way to go, Keri'Ann! I will try to post more updated pictures of these JK stars in the making in the coming months.
